Mangaloreans are kind-natured warm-hearted people who follow their customs and traditions and believe in living a simple, healthy and harmonious life.

Mangalore is a chief port city and a major educational, commercial, healthcare, industrial center. KMC (Kasturba Medical College) is a well known Medical College, NITK(National Institute of Technology Karnataka) is a sought after institute for students.  Mangalore is known in various languages as Maikala in Beary, Kudla in Tulu, Kodial in Konkani, Mangalapuram in Malayalam. It is known as a cradle of Indian Banking and also the ice-cream capital. The City has a long history of rulers ruling the city during its medieval times which include Tipu Sultan. The City during the ancient days was well known for its agriculture (which majorly consisted of Arecanut, Cashew Nut,) and Tiles which was produced and widely exported.

There are various tourist spots in and around Mangalore. The most prominent one being Mangaladevi Temple. It is believed that Mangalore was named after the deity Mangaladevi. There is a good history due to which devotees from the south flock to Mangala Devi temple

Mangalore boasts to have two of the largest malls in the south known as City Centre and Forum Fiza Mall. Mall life has drastically changed the way Mangaloreans live. The mall offers various international brands under one roof where the customers are spoilt for choice. The collections are so much so that people from the neighboring states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu come here to buy their apparells for their loved ones.

 In recent days due to the rapid urbanization and companies increasingly establishing their outlets in Mangalore due to the growing opportunities and population, the service sector has been on the rise as the farmers send and motivate their aspirational children to work at offices. Mangalore also has a booming real estate market as various tall buildings are cropping up the Mangalore skyline giving it a pristine yet glamorous look. Planet SKS is so far the tallest Building in Mangalore and by far one of the tallest buildings in the South. Windsors is the first residential building structure in Mangalore to have a helipad. Building with the most number of semi-connected towers Menorah Alexandria has a world-class structure. Mangalore recently has been selected as a Smart city and funds have been allocated for the same with the developmental works being carried on across the City.
